World Meet 2008

After working for the past two years, Fastrax Blue made it to the 2008 World Meet in Maubeuge, France.

The town of Maubeuge welcomed the skydivers with open arms. Despite a tornado a few days before, the town opened the Meet with an impressive parade that featured music bands, guest speakers, and all of the world competitors.

The meet kicked off to a good start, but unfortunately was put on a hold due to rain, wind and all sorts of bad weather conditions. The women’s division was only able to complete 6 out of the 10 rounds.

Blue finished the meet in 2nd place by only 1 point! We had a good competition and finished strong with round 6 (the final round) posting a 19, the highest score for that round, but it still was a bit hard to finish the competition when we were gaining on the U.K. team.

Kolla and Al from PD knew that we needed a little “pick me up”, so they purchased a disgustingly expensive bottle of champagne, which we promptly drank while standing in a cow pasture! Thank you two for offering us some liquid comfort!

Although both Blue and Storm (UK team) had a burning desire to come in first, we still had time for some friendly fun between the two teams. During one day of the competition, the teams swapped shirts. We sported Storm shirts and they sported Fastrax Blue shirts.
(They looked great on you ladies!)

The fun in didn’t stop at the World Meet, a couple of weeks after our return from France, Blue hopped on a plane and went to the Start Skydiving dropzone in Lebanon, OH. We met up with many of the local skydivers and organized some fun jumps over the Labor Day weekend.
Thanks for having us over for the weekend!
