Newsletter March/April 2008

Hello Everyone!

Fastrax Blue Team USA has had a busy March/April so far! Our events have included the Shamrock Showdown in March, a tunnel camp in North Carolina, and an upcoming training camp in Deland this weekend.

We just finished our tunnel camp in North Carolina at the Paraclete XP tunnel. We shared about six hours of tunnel time with Arizona Direct. After flying about 2.5 hours (with our Vector rigs on!) we had a nice, friendly, trash talkin’ competition with Direct. We decided to do the Bedford draw, and we finished with a 23.1 avg. (Yeah, we beat Direct by 1 point, but who’s counting?). We paid close attention to the 22.6 score the British Storm team posted. We were quite pleased with our score, and we look forward to our next training camp which will be held in Deland April 18-21.

The team has been traveling to Deland all winter in order to jump the Porter. After some rough, rocky and simply hilarious exits so far, we can’t wait to do some more. We haven’t jumped the Porter since Shamrock, where we scored a 20.0 average over six rounds. We were unable to finish all 10 rounds due to weather and flight schedules.

The team has been busy this past month, not only due to our hectic training schedule, but also our extra-curricular activities as well. Brianne Thompson and Erin Murphy of the team could be spotted out at Perris doing some coaching. Erin has had several students this month that she took to the sky and the tunnel in order to improve their FS skills and get them hooked on 4-way just like the rest of us! Erin also helped several young skydivers achieve their A-license and will be “assisting” them in their gear choices.

Brianne was busy at the beginning of April with her new 8-way team Perris Legitim8. She has combined forces with Perris Fury to coach a new, up and coming team to the US Nationals this year. They had a great first camp and it was great to see that PD made it out to the event. Many of our teammates demoed and even purchased some new canopies! The next 8-way camp will be May 15-18.

Fastrax Blue and its members plan on being busy this summer with our team training schedule and other coaching events. See you at the dropzone!
